Extreme athlete, self-prescribed A-type personality and mother of two falls 2000 feet of an Andes Mountain. She not only lived, she fought her way back – and was backcountry skiing within a year.
Skiing remote mountain resorts around the world, Carol squeezed the juice out of life by pushing her physical limits every single run. And it worked – for a while. In 2004, Carol pitched headfirst off the side of an Andes Mountain in Argentina. The patroller who watched her from the base assumed he’d just witnessed a death. It was a miracle she survived, but that was only the beginning for Carol.
Nomadik recently interviewed Carol and talked to her about balance, living and enjoying life and her struggle to find her true self after a near-death experience.
Carol’s book, Fall Line: A Woman’s Survival in the Andes and Return to a Life of Balance, is available online at Chapters/Indigo.
